In the meantime, we leave you with some historical notes about the won. The Korean won was used as a currency for the first time in Korea between 190e and 1910, when Korea was still a united country. It was then replaced at par by the Yen with the creation of the Korean Yen. In 1945, Korea was divided into two states, South Korea and North Korea, each with its own currency called the won, which replaced the yen at par.
